You Are Here - Poetry

The photos are in your book of scraps
Got the t-shirt ‘been there, done that’
Still you persist in looking back
Living you life in the past

But yesterday will never be enough
Regret won’t restore lost love
If only won’t get forgiveness from above
Bemoaning won’t return glory days of

You are here, how many signs do you need
You are here, don’t ask for guidance and refuse to read
You are here, but the arrows fade when you won’t see

Sad excuse, ‘no time for breaks’
You’ll make time once you’ve paved your way
Time speeds up living pay to pay
But will you be alone when time comes to celebrate

Instead make your tomorrow your today
Rather stop and smell the bouquets
Take the scenic route, life doesn’t have to be a highway
Chasing perfection will just waste your life away

You are here, how many signs do you need
You are here, don’t ask for guidance and refuse to read
You are here, but the arrows fade when you won’t see

There is a path you’re destined to take
Your past has made you who you are this date
There’s more joy being present in each step you make
The future will fall into place, it just might take a little faith
